Disaster Immediate Response Team to help clean up Bossier Parish; meals offered by American Red Cross | Weather Headlines

BENTON, La. – Bossier Parish Sheriff Julian Whittington will send the Disaster Immediate Response Team (DIRT) to Benton on Thursday to help clean up areas heavily effected by Monday’s storms.

The team is made up of contractors and equipment operators who help with cleanup after severe storms occur in Bossier Parish. The team will be removing debris from yards and from structures with permission from the property owners. The debris will then be moved to the roadside for pickup.

Members of the Bossier Sheriff’s Office will be at Platt Elementary School in Haughton and Red River Baptist Church in Benton at 8 a.m. to meet with residents who need assistance with debris removal.

Meanwhile, the American Red Cross North Louisiana Chapter will be begin distributing meals to Benton families who lost power during the storm.

Beginning Thursday and until further notice, the Red Cross will be serving three meals daily in the parking lot of the Red River Baptist Church at 3301 East Linton Road.
