Alvarez & Marsal Tax adds Minah Hall and Adam Uttley as managing directors

Alvarez & Marsal Tax, the tax services affiliate of professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal, has hired Minah Hall and Adam Uttley as managing directors.

Based in Chicago, Hall will focus on site selection and local incentives within the firm’s corporate transformation tax group.

Hall has nearly 25 years of experience providing strategic guidance and negotiating tax incentives, with deep expertise supporting companies making significant changes to their physical footprints. She has supported startups, middle-market, and Fortune 500 companies across sectors including distribution, manufacturing, data centers, retail, and corporate headquarters.

Hall was previously served as a managing director at boutique tax consultancies and with several Big Four firms in Chicago. She began her career at Arthur Andersen.

Hall has a JD from Loyola University Chicago and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

“With the rapid changes we see among our clients and across markets, we can attest to the need for transformation in its many forms,” said Ernie Perez, managing director and A&M Tax global practice leader. “Minah’s appointment demonstrates how our obsession with best serving our clients remains at the forefront of our strategic growth journey, whether via new offerings, augmenting existing lines of service, or adding new jurisdictions.”

Based in Los Angeles, Uttley will serve as US leader for the portfolio tax services (PTS) group. He has extensive experience in tax planning and reporting services, cross-border planning, restructuring, exit planning, accounting method and incentives, and post-acquisition support.

Uttley has supported private equity (PE) clients across a range of industries, including life sciences, pharmaceuticals, technology, utilities, oil and gas, gaming, hospitality, and consumer products.

Uttley was previously a managing director at Andersen Tax, where he led the commercial services practice in Southern California. Before that, he worked at KPMG, where he was a founding member of the accounting methods and credit services practice and was a member of the senior lead tax partner group.

Uttley has a bachelor’s degree in business economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

“Private equity is a key market for us driving considerable growth for both A&M and our Tax practice,” Perez said. “We are constantly seeking ways to diversify and enhance our tax solutions to create additional value for stakeholders across the PE ecosystem while considering the evolving needs of those stakeholders. Our PTS investment, broadly speaking – and Adam’s appointment specifically – does just that.”
