Syracuse Orange women’s basketball: Dyaisha Fair signs pro contract in Israel

Former Syracuse Orange Women’s Basketball star Dyaisha Fair has agreed to a deal with the Maccabi Haifa Basketball Club in Israel, according to the team’s social media.

Maccabi Haifa plays in Israel’s top division and last season the team finished 7th with a 6-13 record. Fair, who was drafted 16th overall in the 2024 WNBA draft by the reigning champion Las Vegas Aces, was waived by the team on May 26th. Though she made the opening day roster, she only saw four minutes of playing time before parting ways with the team.

“She just has a whole lot to learn and she’s playing the hardest position on the floor,” said Aces head coach Becky Hammon regarding the team’s decision to cut the former Syracuse point guard.

Fair sported an Orange jersey for three seasons, transferring to Syracuse after a three-year stint at the University of Buffalo. At ‘Cuse, she was reunited with her former coach Felisha Legette-Jack, who coached her during her time at the University of Buffalo.

She finished her collegiate career as the third all time leading scorer in NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball history, with a total of 3,403 points. Fair trails only Caitlin Clark (3,951) and her former teammate in Las Vegas, Kelsey Plum (3,527).
